This site is my place for occasional comments, articles that come to mind over time and is definitely not a blog which would I doubt be of very much interest to many and use more of my time than I have between family and work commitments.

If you want to know a bit more about me the high level can be found over at the history page and favourites which is a grab bag of things I own and web sites.

The other year I setup the Windows Server Team for anyone with an interest in the Server platforms of Microsoft, in particular the newer Server 2008 and the R2 version. It's now been taken and included with the AD user group as www.wsug.co.uk by Mark Parris because with having had an accident and recovering people needed something better than I could provide and Mark is right the AD and WS are natural bed fellows.

The bad news is that I broke one of the cardinal rules of IT, make sure someone else has copies of your passwords or knows where they can be optioned in an emergency and I was hit by a train and spent from late January to early September last year in hospital and had the sorrow of hearing I had also last a few months later my main server ah I also lost my domains (mcleod.co.uk, sorrell.co.uk and kitsune.com) to an opportunistic land grad when I didn't renew them but good news is I got the domains back and built a replacement Domain Controller with the same IP addresses. Them a friend (David Price) was as good as you like and he replaced the motherboard on the original server leaving me with the fun of playing with ERD Commander to break the passwords on the server. You should never, never be in this situation at home or more importantly at work. If you don't survive an accident then someone will thank me if you follow this advice.

This site was getting a little tired so I've redone it using SharePoint Designer 2007 I know it's old but it does the HTML basics I need and after having used Expression for a while it's a user interface I'm used too.

For more info the site info page has the gory details.

Over the last couple of years I have become a then Monad and now PowerShell user and would recommend the UK PowerShell User Group run by Richard Siddaway and Thomas Lee both excellent chaps. We had the first meeting back in January 2007 and for a new technology on a bleak wintery day the turnout was excellent.
